    Toast the walnuts in a dry pan until golden and fragrant. Do not chop, leave them whole.

    Transfer the walnuts to a cutting board and crush them into large pieces with a wooden stick or rolling pin.

    Pour honey into a saucepan and add powdered sugar (if using). Place over low heat and bring to a boil, stirring slowly.

    Once the honey boils, add the crushed walnuts and stir well.
