Shoti Bread in the Oven

Learn how to bake delicious Shoti bread at home! This recipe is simple and the result is always excellent. Homemade Shoti is much tastier than store-bought. Allow about 3 hours 5 minutes for two loaves baked together: 30 minutes for preparation, a 2-hour rise, a 15-minute rest and 20 minutes in the oven.

    Dissolve salt and yeast in warm water.

    Add sifted flour and knead the dough. Knead by hand for about 10 minutes, the dough should become elastic and soft.

    Shape the dough into a ball, cover with plastic wrap or a towel, and let it rise for 2 hours.

    After the 2-hour rise, divide the dough into two balls, cover and rest for 15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 250°C during this rest.

    Stretch each dough ball into a rhombus shape. Press the center with your palm and make a small hole.

    Place both shaped loaves on one large baking tray with space between them. Bake in the already preheated 250°C oven for 15–20 minutes, until browned and cooked through. If they must be baked separately, allow another 15–20 minutes.

    Wrap the finished bread in a towel to soften it. If you want a crispy crust, serve hot.
