Tried and True Baklava Recipe
This is a simple and delicious baklava recipe, tried and tested over the years. The dough is soft and flaky, and the filling is an aromatic blend of walnuts and honey.

To prepare the dough, mix together flour, egg yolks, room temperature butter, sour cream, vanilla, and baking powder in a bowl.

Place the dough in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

Divide the dough into three parts.

Roll out one part of the dough to the size of the baking pan and place it on the pan. Transfer about half of the walnut filling and spread evenly.

Roll out the second part of the dough and place it on top. Spread the remaining filling and place the third layer of dough on top.

Cut into diamond shapes, brush with a mixture of egg yolk and milk. Place a walnut half on each piece (optional).

Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.

To prepare the syrup, mix water and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes.
