    Roll out the puff pastry to a thickness of about 2-3 mm. Cut into equal squares or rectangles.

    Bake the pastry sheets in a preheated oven at 180°C until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes. Let them cool.

    To prepare the cream, mix milk, sugar, egg yolks, and cornstarch in a saucepan. Place over low heat and stir constantly until thickened.

    Remove the saucepan from the heat, add butter and dark chocolate. Stir until melted and the cream is smooth. Optionally add cocoa powder.

    Cool the chocolate cream to room temperature.

    Assemble the Napoleon: Place a pastry sheet, spread with chocolate cream, and repeat the layers. Sprinkle with powdered chocolate or pastry crumbs on top.
